Generally, the client does not know the margin. Although, this information
does not remain secret for long.

This normal if you consider that you have no idea what the wholesale price
is on most goods and services you purchase. Likewise, the wholesaler has
no idea what the retailer charges customers.

Agencies work the same way. They retail labor to companies paying
wholesale prices to the suppliers (you). Charging them one price and
paying a different price. Without the margin, the agency would not
survive.
