I recently put together a CD-ROM version of my portfolio for Windows that
works quite well. It consists of a Flash movie with hyperlinks to PDFs of my
resume and writing samples. I used a utility called Flash Jester to create
code for the links to the PDFs, and I included an auto-launch file that
opens the intro movie when the interviewer/HR person puts the CD into their
drive.

I printed labels for the CDs to match the theme of my hard-copy portfolio,
with personal information prominently positioned, and included it in a CD
pocket attached to inside of my portfolio binder. At appropriate times
during interviews, I would suggest that I leave the interviewer with a CD
version of my portfolio. (I would carry some extra sleeves in a pocket.)

There can be some risk with this approach. I did a lot of "field testing" on
different machines and operating systems, and I put compatibility
information on the labels to try and reduce incidents of failure.

I plan on putting the whole thing on a website at some point, but my new job
is keeping me pretty busy ;)
