The latest 'Information Week' lists IT staff salaries adjusted
for cost of living.

>From highest to lowest:

Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, Austin, Denver, St. Louis
Minneapolis/St. Paul, Chicago, Washington. D.C., Los Angeles,
Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, and New York.

Which proves if you want a high adjusted income, you have
to suffer.
