I hope I'm not stating the obvious, but if your "permanent" job would offer more benefits, have you included the value of those benefits (not to mention taxes) in the salary equation?

Also, if the future of either job is uncertain, being a "permanent" employee provides unemployment benefits that you don't receive as a contractor, doesn't it?
