Mike,

Are you working on 1099 or W2? If you're working 1099 you probably aren't
eligible.

If you're working on W2, go for it. It is just a stipend, but it helps keep the
debt collectors at bay. Here in Texas, we're allowed the option of having taxes
pulled out of the unemployment check; if that option is available, I'd do it -
means you don't have to dig down as far in your pocket come April 15th!
