A writer friend recently pointed out this phrase in my (unfinished) novel:
"she also worked as a recruiter, in fact had set up my recently demised
job..."

This line has been in there for *two years*. Twenty different critiquers
have read this line. I've read it probably a hundred times. The worst part
is, it says exactly what I want it to say.

BTW--on Jay Leno last night, he showed a printed envelope from a college
(whose name I can't remember) that said "Podunk Falls Collage". It was
probably a recruitment letter--wonder if enrollment will drop?
