I would agree w/ other writers that the question is vague but I have wondered about the impact of tech writing on my other writing.

I think perhaps the greatest benefit has been my effort to make the writing more succinct. It seems fewer people make the time to read these days, so I think less Is more. I get to use old journalistic skills (because getting info from busy developers is like pulling teeth), so I think interviewing skills have improved (enjoyably so).

I wonder if the analytical thinking process might be overdominating the creative side of my brain. I'm afraid that in my experience in software, creative thinking and appreciation for the arts does not seem very much appreciated. It's a bit of a shame though.
