That reminds me - I've heard instructors in classroom situations say "boot
the computer" (which is fine and appropriate) then say something like
"double click the icon. Once the application boots up" (what???? that's not
right!).

Oh yeah - AND I've heard instructors refer to the computer itself (ya
know...the case) as the CPU. oh sheesh.....if they're gonna slang term it so
that the students understand at least get it right. In my classroom I have
an old computer taken apart that I actually show them. Nothing in
depth...just so they know a little about what makes it tick.
