Funnily enough I find I use Quantum and Quanta fairly regularly to describe
non-analog events or items. For example, my design for the Thumbnails dialog
states it should be resizable by Thumbnail quantas. This is also known as
Quantum Resizing - as opposed to ye olde std analog resize.

A word doesn't have to be mainstream for it to still be a word. How
many times do you use quantum in day to day conversation? Chances are
that if you don't have a PhD in physics, you don't use it every day,
yet would anyone dispute that it is a legitimate word?
