RE: Ethics and Job-Hunting

Actually, one of the state colleges in western Colorado (either Wasted
State or Ft Clueless) is going to be offering "The Poetics of PrOn." A
professor got tenure and then courage, in that order. Master's,
Certifications, they can only be a step away!

I find this question both interesting and relevant, as I have recently
joined the ranks of the unemployed. I've been so focused on the kind of
job that I want that I haven't focused on the opposite, which of course
must always be a consideration. I have some height in my ivory tower to
work with; nevertheless, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't write for a
company/product whose key purpose is to foster something I find
degrading, violates my principles, and would erode my own sense of
self-worth over time.

I think the rest of the issues fall into my gray areas, though I'd be
more likely to fall on the side of privacy than the snoops. Wait, there
is one other industry for which I would not work, and that's the handgun
industry.
