Would it work to ask intelligent questions; questions that get the person to
answer those questions for himself or herself? What questions can we ask
that will get the person to start thinking in the right direction?

An example might be:

Are you looking for topics we've already covered? Have you checked the
archives?

Do you want opinions or do you want real world examples?

Just some ideas.
