Good Morning All:

I am writing for a friend of mine. She is an experienced technical writer
and editor (my former boss and editor) who has been away from it for a few
years to raise her kids. She is looking to get her feet wet again doing
freelancing. She asked me about rates. I work for a consulting company and
am only familiar with my bill rates.

I suggested to her that the rates would probably be based on the complexity
of the material and the delivery medium (i.e., Word vs HTML). We are in the
metropolitan Detroit area. I think a range of $50-$75 is reasonable. Do
any of you have any thoughts. I want her to get the job but I don't want
her to leave any money on the table.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Vicki
