Contracting isn't always a choice. There have been times when simply nothing
else was benig offered, and I don't have the luxury of saying loftily: "Oh
no, I don't *do* contracts." I tried that attitude once and was out of work
for 8 months before getting a "permanent" job that lasted a couple of years
before the company went under.

I have a lot of contracting on my resume because I have an addiction to
living indoors, not because I made a career choice.
