The upgrade process was pretty much painless - about the easiest Windo
install I've done. Getting my Internet connection established was straigtforward. I am still struggling with my home network - the other
machines can see my machine but I can't see them - and printer sharing
a bit of figuring out.

I had the same problem when I set up my home network.

The older machine, running Windows 95 could see the new machine running Windows XP. But the Windows XP machine couldn't see the older machine.

The solution was to go into the network settings on the older machine and enable Netbios over IPX/SPX.

For a Win 95 machine, the steps are:

Start --> Settings --> Control Panel
Click on Network
In the Network dialog box, select the IPX/SPX protocol for your network card.
Click Properties
Select the Netbios tab.
Check "I want to enable Netbios over IPX/SPX" checkbox.
