Hi

I'm surprised at the comment that AuthorIt is more expensive than
RoboHelp Enterprise. I just checked up on www.authorit.com at their
pricing & it looks a lot better than RoboHelp Enterprise but it does
depend on how many licenses are required.

I have worked with both of the products & don't really see RoboHelp
Enterprise as being a substitute for AuthorIT if you are wanting to
single-source.

One of my co-workers has used it very successfully for a web application
that required both hard-copy manual and on-line help. The project I
worked on did not require single-sourcing to multiple output types but
it did require repetition of standard clauses in multiple documents
(Word which was converted to pdf) that could be updated it one place.
AuthorIt was perfect for this.

I found that it does have a slightly steeper learning curve than other
help authoring tools but that is only until you get your head around the
concept. From then on it was pretty good. The tutorial is helpful for
this.

I wouldn't have thought that AuthorIt was only aimed at larger
companies. The project I worked on was for a medium-sized organisation
and the one my co-worker worked on was for a small web-based software
company.
