Catharine,

I'm the king of frugal (you should see my collection
of used bubble wrap, or watch me water down orange
juice to make it last longer), yet I must recommend
that you buy the Microsoft "Manual of Style for
Technical Publications." It's a great starting point
for developing your own style guide.

Note: People who waste time debating the authority of
the manual will be flogged, unless they make Catherine
laugh.
