I used to have to report my time in 6-minute increments (officially, in practice we usually used 15-minute), but now I give my boss highlights in the weekly staff meeting, meet with him once a month (in theory at least) to discuss my progress, and file an official results report twice a year.

I selected week-by-week. Mostly true, though it can slip either way
(sometimes he knows on a day-by-day basis, sometimes only on a
