I have a copy of Microsoft's style manual handy; the method they use is:

"On the [x] menu, click [command]."

Only other piece of advice I have, is get a copy of that manual. Everybody
would benefit from it. It's not Holy Scripture, but it's useful when you
want to know commonly-used terminology (after all, Microsoft products are
common to just about everybody).
