make it seem?<<

Not in my experience. I walked into a department that had a pretty
adversarial relationship with the SMEs (in this case, Ph.D. scientists), and
in my commitment to change that, I ended up being ostracized by the other
workers in my department. I started socializing with the SMEs, taking
interest in their work, and enjoying their company. They gained respect for
me, and our working relationship was top-notch.

That's how it's done, folks. Get humble, and get to know them. Make friends
with them, and be committed to teamwork and excellence.

Or, stay resentful. That's a choice, though; it's far more rewarding to get
off of our fixed positions and really get to know people. Don't be Tina the
Techwriter - make Dilbert your friend.

Peace!

Kevin
