How many templates would you say a startup software company needs? What style guidelines should I supply to people outside documentation?

I've just been tasked with providing a generic "company-wide" template for nontechnical documents that are also not user guides.
I'm also supposed to supply a technical template, although development currently uses a good one (I guess I'll make minor modifications to it).
Thanks for your help
