I would rather have a million lurkers on a mailing list than one who does
any of the following:
- doesn't read the FAQ before posting
- doesn't know how to unsubscribe and posts to the list asking how to
- thinks he/she knows it all and lets everyone know
- is belligerent about his/her opinions and expresses them rudely
- feels the need to respond to almost every message, whether he/she can
usefully contribute or not
- figures the list owes him/her a response and complains when it doesn't
come within a couple of hours
- has the nerve to say "I don't have time to read the list, so respond
off-list"
