I do my captures and then open them in PaintShop Pro for any editing (cropping, color depth). I save the image, then paste it into an empty word doc. add the callouts, and then capture the graphic with the callouts and save it as a bitmap image. I can then create png, gif, jpg (or whatever format works best for the app it's being ported to). I realize it's not a perfect process, but it works well for what I do.
