Okay, but I'm really not looking for anecdotes about the pain of teaching people shortcuts. What I'm looking for is evidence that supports or refutes my hypothesis (that the problem has to do with right-brain dominance) as well as explorations of ways to address this issue in documentation (sample solution: explain everything redundantly, once in words, once in pictures--not suggesting that this is practical or that it would solve the problem).
