I've used text insets in FM5.5.6 and 6, and I've found only one "bug," if
you want to call it that: The "container" paragraph (the one into which you
imported the file) takes on the paragraph format of the first paragraph in
the inset source flow. If the first paragraph in the inset is a big heading
or has special Keep With properties, etc., this can cause layout and
pagination problems. My solution is to begin each text inset source flow
with a special small paragraph tag. Mine is 7pt so I can see it on screen,
but you could make it even smaller.

As for the table titles, are the table formats defined differently in the
inset source and destination files? When you import, you can choose to keep
the source formatting or reformat using the destination file's formats. Is
this, perhaps, what's causing the problem?

Oh, one other thing to watch for with text insets: It's quite cumbersome to
make xrefs to a text inset work properly (although they work fine if done
right). I always put the topic heading in the destination file, not in the
text inset, and then point xrefs to that heading.

HTH!
Richard
