Brad,

isn't that just sophistry? "Free software" refers to software that the
user may acquire without charge and without other material obligations
(as in "free drinks"). Or, if you want to get more philosophical, it
refers to the lack of restrictions on passing on the software (as in
"free as a bird").

That someone had to expend effort to create the software IMHO has nothing
to do with it and doesn't make "free software" a myth.
