Re: Addendum to Cry for Help: Bookmarks Bypassed in Word-to-PDF conversion
The Problem: I have a Word-generated TOC in my Word document. When I split the document into 4 diffrent documents, the TOC in Word (which is now in one of the smaller documents) no longer holds good. It displays "Error! Bookmark not defined" in the TOC.
So can I generate a TOC in Acrobat somehow? So that I can just do away with the Word-generated one.
This will work, but it may be labor-intensive; so if someone comes up with a better solution, go for it. From the original (unified) Word document, print _only_ the TOC pages to the Distiller printer. Use these pages to replace the broken TOC pages in the PDF. Manually insert the missing links. I realize the TOC for a 200 pp. book might be quite extensive. So if you use this solution, you might consider including only the top-level headings (maybe chapters and level one headings) in the main TOC. If you need lower-level headings in the TOC, perhaps you could put them in chapter-level TOCs instead.
