Seriously, though, I don't really mind those opening lines. They are a bit
on the ultra-cheery side, with intros like "Congratulations on your new
purchase! You now own the finest Widget Snarfeler available..." No harm is
done, IMO, if it's in keeping with your company's vibe. But in the places
I've worked, we've stuck to the Joe Friday school of tech writing: just
the facts, ma'am.
