Re: Non Tech Writing Experience on Resume?
Of course, I still maintain that your job finding will be greatly enhanced by using
a T-Letter approach to all employers and using your resume, focused on the
employer's needs, as a follow-up piece of information.
I can't say enough good things about T-letters. When the economy turned sour, I needed some way for my resume to stand above the crowd. I wouldn't be working today without having used one.
As far as the gap in employment -- if you emphasize your skills, the gap won't make much difference to the right employer. My son took two years off from programming to serve as a missionary. When he came back to the "real world," I warned him that this wasn't the same tech world as when he left. I helped him to rewrite his resume, and showed him how to write a T-letter. He was working within a week of coming home.
