Hello everybody:
I've been on this list for just a couple of months,
mostly lurking but I have posted a few times. In the
short time I have been here I have learned so much
from all of you - thank you.

I have a question. From reading your posts I gather
that most of you document software. Is this correct?
The reason I ask is that I haven't seen anyone post
about writing a slam-dunk owner's manual for a toaster
oven or an operator's guide for an Acme SuperDuper
what-ch-ma-call-it. Do these types of tech writing
gigs exist? Someone's got to be writing all those
little manuals that are stuffed in the boxes of every
appliance and electronic gizmo I buy.

If someone wanted to do that type of tech writing,
where would they go to do that? How would they "break
in" to that type of work? Have any of you done that
type of writing? If so, how did you get started?

Also, do any of you have experience writing training
materials, workshops etc? Would you share your
experiences? Please cc me at linux_chix -at- yahoo -dot- ca as I
am on digest.

Once again, thank you. Barbara.
