Oh, I agree. I was just playing around. I honestly don't pay much
attention to dates, and I downplay them when I'm interviewing, tossing
out the ol' "company tanked/dot-bomb/stupid business decisions" replies,
as needed. I showcase my knowledge and experience, and speak openly and
honestly. I expect the same when on the other side of the desk as well.

Getting back to the point (sort of), asking for specific tech skills or
asking for general skills can be both advantageous and detrimental to
finding a solid candidate. On the one hand, getting too specific can
dissuade some possibly very qualified people from applying. On the other
hand, being too general in your requirements can scare away solid
applicants because you'll seem as though you don't know what you really
are looking for.
