Lest anyone be misled by what some people are saying that I said, let me
reiterate. (I confess that I have my incoming message filters set to
immediately route posts from certain senders to the Trash, so I only hear
about these things second hand.)

Education is a valuable use of your time. Spend that time well. Everything
you do should be for YOUR ultimate benefit, not JUST to cater to someone
else. Evaluate your personal situation to determine whether you are being
asked to correct a deficiency in your preparation for a particular job, or
offered an opportunity to broaden your skill base. Correct analysis will
help you make the right choice of what to do.

Global statements about technology skills being more important than writing
skills are inaccurate. Check what is in demand in your area. Know your
market, i.e. your customer.

As a life coach, I am continually helping people reinvent their lives so
that they can achieve the goals THEY want for a change. Unfortunately, so
many have been diverted into wrong courses of action for fear they would not
be employable, or would lose a relationship. Bottom line: if you are doing
what is right *for you*, you will always be able to overcome hard times and
have peace of mind.
