Y'know, I've been an STC member for a lot of years, and in all that time,
I've NEVER heard any responsible STC member or officer suggest that you
don't need subject-matter/technological expertise to be a good tech writer.

I HAVE heard that you need MORE THAN subject-matter/technogical expertise,
and I wholeheartedly subscribe to that. Maybe I just listened to the whole
conversation differently from those who had a different agenda. I figure
there's always something new to learn in all aspects of our profession.
