Hello all,

I have a question or two or three for the art director/editor types at
technical publications. They are most likely easily answered by experience,
but as I have none I thought I'd ask the people who do.

How do you decide, if an author has not handed in any illustrations or
photos, etc., whether they are needed or not?

If they are how do you determine what kind of illustration or photo, etc.,to
use?

If the choice to use an illustration is chosen what do you use to tell the
author that an illustration would help the work and illustrator to make
preparation easier.

Thanks for your taking the time to read this far.

Have a nice day.

Sincerely,
Conchan

trying very hard to learn his job before bonus time
