I'm not sure if I have nroff on OS X but I'm sure I can get it if needed
and I'll try your suggestion as well this evening.

nroff is available on Mac OS X.

Depending on why you want to convert the man pages, a graphical man page viewer may also help you. I know of two such utilities for Mac OS X: ManOpen and manThor. Both are available from
