I don't think I've had a 40-hr week since sometime in the
1980's. Even in cases where I've only spent 8-9 hrs a day
in the office, I usually ended up spending another hr or
so on email, phone messages, remote login work, etc., from
home. A 9-10 hr day is pretty much the standard here in
Silicon Valley, and we all just base our expected salary
ranges on the assumption that we'll be working it.

I'm settling in to late middle-age now (over 50), and I sure don't care
anything about working over 40 hours/week.
