And why are you (and others) so hostile toward me for asking these questions?

Andrew. nobody is hostile (if you want to call it that) towards you for asking questions. The negative responses you evoke are not based on your opinions so mch as on the way you chose to propagate them.

Specifically, it annoys a lot of people that you:

- seem to have great difficulty in acting as if other people's opinions have the same value as your own,

- seem to have enormous difficulty admitting that your stated opinion is wrong,

- frequently severely misrepresent other people's statements in your own answers,

- often become agressive when other people continue to disagree with you after your first response,

- often include open or veiled insults in your statements.

I won't argue that you should not do that - although refraining from such practises has obvious advantages, it's your own call.

But it should be clear that all these practises stand in the way of having a goal-oriented discussion. So if people set up a private discussion to constructively (which is not uncontroversibly!) discuss a particular issue, it is both understandable and logical that they'd exclude you.

And there is no reason for you to be miffed about it, as you seem to be. You made your choices as to how you act in this list, you should accept the consequences. If you don't like them, you can always act differently.

Regards
Jan Henning
