I think it matters far more what you do at each job than whether it's temporary or full-time. If you do essentially the same work for six years as a full-timer, then you risk looking as though you lack initiative. If you only do very small contracts and don't have the excuse of a poor economy, then you risk looking as though you lack self-discipline.
