If you're an STC member, you can search the archives of _Technical
Communication_ for info. A while back, JoAnn Hackos and Janice (Ginny)
Redish, among others, edited a whole special issue devoted to "How Technical
Communicators Add Value," which is about what you want. Might even find some
metrics to back up your presentation. You'll probably also find some info in
_Intercom_, though it may be less formally presented.

Good luck!
Marguerite
