OpenOffice 1.1 (just out) has a facility to export as PDF - if it
renders your Word document ok, this is one way to go (I haven't tried if
it does links yet).

PDFCreator (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/) is an app that
installs a "pseudo printer" for any windows app (i.e., you do
file->print and choose it for your printer).

Both these are free.
