For numbering this simple, you're right. However, much of my numbering
resembles this:

1. jf bjdfbjnd
2. xj fkldj fb
f blkd fj;kj
kcngb vb cv

3. mvc bxmcv b
- c,m nb.jnd
- lk fjvkdk fnb
A) dkf xd nb
B) ,zjfd hj
- m bm b

4. mvcmzdnb

It's this kind of numbering that brings Word to its knees
