You've gotten good advice so far. I'd like to add a twist
about the way we punctuate bullet items in my shop. We never
put a period after a bullet item UNLESS the item contains
two or more sentences or fragments. Then the punctuation is
required to separate the sentences.

Proofreading literally means reading a document without
audio. It is used to:

- Identify and understand the context and reviewing the text
in its entirety

- Make sure that the words, sentences, and punctuation of
the text express effectively precisely what the dictator
wants them to. The exception is when the dictator was duly
elected by a formal assembly.

- Ensure that the references to sources are accurate and
that citations in the text match the list of references
