Hi,

Is there limit to the number of editions listed in a document's history?

Each document we produce includes a preface, which has an Edition History
section. This edition history includes each release's edition (e.g.,
First) and product number, the product version the document accompanied,
and a brief description of the major changes made in the document.

Some of the Edition Histories list as many as ten document versions. This
seems excessive to me. But, I want to find out if there is a standard here
of which I'm not aware.

Are edition histories typically kept to a set number or time-frame (i.e.
the latest five or only those released within the current calendar year)?

Is there any problem with omitting older editions from the list?

I've searched on the Web and through the Strunk and White guide and a few
other guides, but I can find neither a set rule nor a suggestion for the
adequate length of an Edition History section. Any help or opinions will
be valued.

Thank you in advance,
Tammy
