Of course, you can. I've run long-distance races with a sprained toe, too, but
the experience was much easier and less painful without the handicap.

When much of what you are designing is text, fonts are inevitably going to play
a large role in the design. They won't be everything, but they will have a large
part. There's just no way around that.
