One other thing I forgot to mention -- next to that sign was a
handwritten sign from the attendant in question, saying that she could
be found in the women's rest room.

They could have made it clearer, like:

If you see anything wrong in this rest room, please tell
the attendant, who is usually in the women's rest room.

Or

If you see anything wrong in this rest room, please tell
the attendant, whose room is next to the women's rest room.
