Stick with the standard. We're so heavily influenced by US English here that
now there's a mix of usage. One publication uses double inverted commas
(which is what we call them), another publication uses single inverted
commas, some companies use both depending on what client they're working
for, and lots of people aren't really sure what they use and mix them up.
It's really confusing. I agree with Dick: stand firm on this one.

We've written our department style guide to support double quotation
marks, but perhaps we need to relax these standards to reflect current
usage. I'm curious to hear from my fellow TECHWR-Lers.
