As Diane said, this topic has been discussed several times over the years.
That said, here are my short answers:

1. Swarthmore College
2. double major: math and philosophy
(followed a few years later by an MA in Northwest Semitic Philology from Yale)
3. I fell into a job as a software engineer and drifted into designing and editing manuals.
4. For TWs who understand both the subject matter and the craft, I think it does.
