Tim Carl (http://thecarlgroup.com/) is the main one I know of in the Silicon Valley area. He spoke to our Silicon Valley chapter of STC a couple months back and indicated that, while things are starting to pick up, we need to broaden our skill-set to consider Product Management and other adjacent areas if we want to be marketable.

If you aren an STC member, anywhere in the world, you can access the Silicon Valley chapter's employment information page by visiting

http://stc-siliconvalley.org/employment/job_index.asp?operation=view

Listings are posted for two weeks (though sometimes they hang around longer).

At this moment, it lists 13 openings, of which 7 are contract (a typical proportion). Most of those contract positions are direct, not through a recruiter (one) or agency (one).

Even if you are not a member, you can still subscribe to the site's e-mail list that announces partial details by visiting

I am interested in looking into the consulting market and was wondering if anyone can refer me to some good Bay Area recruiters who specialize in contract work. Also, what is the consulting market like, these days? Thanks.
