The company is looking for someone with ONE YEAR of tech writing
experience. Why are some of you so indignant? This is a VERY
entry level position, and one a new tech writer should be happy to
have if unemployed. I think this would be a very good opportunity for
someone to get their foot in the door, especially if they have little
tech writing experience.

As far as respect goes -- and I've said it before -- you will gain
respect as a professional if you act like a professional and do
professional work.

In one of my previous jobs I was the engineering office manager
AND the technical writer. I was a valued, respected member of the
engineering team. I was not treated as lesser being because I didn't
*act* like a lesser being. If you have been unsuccessful at gaining
respect as an equal on a team, maybe you need to look within.
