Well, if it's any comfort to you, I once met a porn writer
(back in the days when people still actually *read* porn),
and based on what he told me about how the industry paid,
I was making a lot more than he was on an hourly basis.

OTOH, from his description of how he wrote one of these
books, the process did sound an awful lot like technical
writing. :)
