Yeah, the pipe always leak in the plumber's house! It is hard at first to
apply the rules of technical writing and graphic design to personal
projects, but I'd still recommend doing that.

If you don't mind some suggestions, first plan out the site structure
you'd like, then find some sites that have designs you admire. A technical
writer's site shouldn't be too flashy, so you've got it easy. Ask your
artsy friend for help in choosing site colors. That should do it.
